Mission Accomplished!

Thanks to lots of hardworking people, a large shipment of Annie's mirrorwork was successfully delivered to customers here in Bangalore this week. So many people to thanks:
Uma and Angela (pictured here) for not only getting the original orders, but sorting out the items and delivering the orders; Annie and her team of sewing mothers; Suresh and Jude, for getting the orders boxed and trucked to Bangalore and Ibrihim, for getting the box to me...whew!

We all feel so happy. Everyone was rewarded by this project, be it rewards of the heart, of the pocketbook or just having a new mirrorwork pocketbook. Life is good.

Meet Annie David

Thought you would like to see the beautiful Annie up close. We spent quite a few days together in Hyderabad last month. Working with her crew of highly skilled seamstresses, Annie filled an order for 20,000 rupees worth of mirrorwork products! We expect the order to be delivered to Bangalore this week, and distributed to all the fortunate customers on Friday.

Please think about how you might place a big order, and do so. How about buying gifts for all your employees? Or guests at the wedding? For the gift shop at your hospital? Help create some income for Annie David. Bless you!

Annie's Mission is to Create Mirrorwork

When I read the following quote by the late Henri Nouwen, I thought of Annie David, who is clearly doing what she was sent on this earth to do!

"Each of us has a mission in life. Jesus prays to his Father for his followers, saying: "As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world" (John 17:18).

We seldom realise fully that we are sent to fulfill God-given tasks. We act as if we have to choose how, where, and with whom to live. We act as if we were simply plopped down in creation and have to decide how to entertain ourselves until we die. But we were sent into the world by God, just as Jesus was. Once we start living our lives with that conviction, we will soon know what we were sent to do."

Find Your Way to Help Children

Had a chance to talk with my husband today, on the other side of this beautiful Earth. I told him that the older I get, the more unmet need I see, and the more amazed I am by how fellow citizens of the world seem able to avoid or overlook the idea of helping others.
When we are blessed, it feels so great to share!

Here in Hyderabad, I am seeking a few upscale venues for my friend, Annie David, to sell her beautifully hand crafted work, seen on this blog. I continue to look for contacts, those who might know the manager of a fine hotel with a gift shop? Or a phone store that would like to sell mobile phone bags? Please, leave a comment here and get things rolling for Annie! Her son, Deepu, is heading off to college, and funds are needed.
I also want to pass along some contact information about another project aimed at improving the lives of children, this one in Africa. Known as CHILDREN MENDING HEARTS, it is based in the Congo. If you would like to help children in need, check out this link. Bless you in whatever service you do.

Note: thinking of the children of the world, I wanted to share one of my friend Morgan Brown's artistic representations of this Planet!

Seek Shop, in India or Online, to Sell Annie's Wares

This Holy Week, I have had two meetings with Annie, her husband David, and son Deepu. We are all praying fervently for a distributor or shop to sell Annie's beautiful work. A shop in Hyderabad or elsewhere in India would be great, as would an online presence.

Thanks to yogi Angela Rooijmans and Nynke Ongena of Whitefield, Bangalore (permanent home in the Netherlands) for holding two open houses in March that generated close to 15,000 rupees in orders for Annie!

Can you help us? Do you have a shop or a friend with a shop who will place a regular order with Annie? Please, leave your ideas and comments here. Annie and David are only able to rent a small room for their family of four. More sales will allow a workspace and help them pay for Deepu's college, which he starts in June.
